Employee Fundraising - What's in it for you?

Employee fundraising is a fantastic team builder and gives companies a great opportunity to mingle amongst departments.  Your team will have fun supporting SAVI in a number of exciting and different ways, and volunteering gives everyone an opportunity to express a different set of skills.   There are so many ways that you can help, and we are right behind you when you need us!

So what can you do to help raise money for a great cause?

Ask yourself: What floats your boat and would arouse the team?  How many are there of you and would you split the team?  Who would do what?  What would you like to achieve?  What is your budget?  There are several points to consider in an employee challenge, and to make the most of the team's time whilst out of the office, team meetings before the challenge are a great way to plan.

Stuck for ideas?

You can have a look at our A-Z of fundraising ideas for starters, and if you don’t want to organise something yourselves, we have events throughout the whole year we need volunteers for. Or you could come along as guests to our sporting events, dinners and quiz nights.

Additionally, some employees may like to become Home Visitor volunteers helping to give others some independence by helping to do some of the things that sighted people take for granted.
Why not set yourself a target to raise some money for SAVI by getting sponsored by your friends, family and colleagues to do an event, from running to swimming, to head shaves to abseils... this is a great way to boost enthusiasm and help towards raising the much needed funds to continue the great work we do.  We have sponsorship forms to give you, or to make it even easier you can ask them to donate on line through our website www.surreywebsight.org.uk

Do you fancy an active, outdoors challenge such running or cycling?  If so we have a whole list of events happening that you can join in and get sponsored. Would you prefer a creative challenge such as  making cakes to sell in your office?  Why not hold a coffee morning?  Perhaps you want to do something unusual like get sponsored to shave your head at work or have an office olympic day?  Or for something a little more straightforward take part in our ‘Get your Kit On’ dress down day.


A few more ideas:

Fancy dress party, office barbie, cake sales and coffee mornings, sponsored silence, office games such as a treaure hunt or tug of war, learn a new skill - get sponsored to learn a new language or playing an instrument, office raffles and auctions, Christmas parties, sweepstakes, bringing some entertainment in for the day while people pay a small donation to the Trust, guess the weight competition, karaoke nights, quiz evenings, pub crawl events, Bonfire night in aid of us, eating competition, guess the number of sweets in the jar, donate your clothes and shoes, have a ball, walkathon, quote quiz - who said that from which film?, grow your own herbs competition, job swap for the day, wine tasting evening, car washing, face painting, bring and buy sale.......

Payroll giving is so easy to set up.  It means so much to us because we can plan ahead knowing that we have a regular stream of income.  And you have the benefit of immediate tax relief.
Payroll giving is a scheme that enables employees to give to any UK charity straight from their gross salary (before tax is deducted) meaning that you receive immediate tax relief.
This means that a monthly donation of £10 straight out of your payroll, actually only costs you £7.80 (or even less if you are in the higher tax bracket)!
So why not let the tax man pay the rest and help make a visible difference in Surrey.

Here’s how you would be helping:

Simply ask your Payroll Department if they already operate a payroll-giving scheme and, if so, how you sign up.  If not, then ask if they could set one up by contacting Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) who will be more than happy to help.
