Above: Lance Clarke
Lance Clarke the Chief Executive of SAVI and the Chairman of the National Association for Local Societies for Visually Impaired people (NALSVI). He has worked in the visual impairment sector for over eight years and prior to that was a director of the Surrey Branch of the British Red Cross Society. Before moving to the Third Sector he was in the Royal Air Force, retiring in 1996 in the rank of wing commander in the logistics branch.
Lance is chair of the Low Vision Steering Group (England), a trustee on the Greater London for the Blind, an executive member on board of Vision2020UK and a trustee/executive on a local Surrey charity for people with disabilities. He also represents NALSVI on the Guide Dogs project: Rethink Rehab. Subjects that are dearest to his heart include: fairness in local authority procurement, the parlous state of low vision services in the England, the failure to secure, absolutely, a set of standards recognised by CSCI for services for visually impaired adults and children, and the future of rehabilitation work in the UK.
